A Poem by Teri Gasser
(A personal appropriation of Psalm 37:8 & Jeremiah 12:5. Scripture in italics)
I’m Fed up, full of F’s!
I’m Ticked off, tanked by T’s!
I hear a holy hush,
“Cease from anger and forsake wrath; do not fret—it only causes harm.”
(Yes, fretful! Yet another pesky F word.)
He poses a convicting question,
“If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you,
Then how can you contend with horses?
And if in the land of peace,
In which you trusted, they wearied you,
Then how will you do in the floodplain of the Jordan?”
Oh, LORD, I don’t know! Yes, I failed. I let little foxes spoil my grapes. I bashed a loved one’s
splinter with my log.
My only hope is resurrection, to rise from this confession in newness of life. May I rest in Your
forgiveness, patience, and restoration?
Abba, I wait for You.
